About the Peterborough Depot

When New England MPD closed just after the end of steam around Peterborough in the early 1960s . The engines that were used around Peterborough were transferred to March MPD.

To save the class 08s that were still needed around Peterborough and engines that were between trains having to go to all the way to March MPD each time a very small shed and a refuelling plant were built near Spittle bridge just to the north of the station.

A class 47 and two 31s at the small depot at Peterborough.

This is the main part of the Depot which is on the northern side of Spittle bridge. One or two tank wagons were in a siding just to the right. The small shed was only for oiling and small repairs only. Any big jobs would be done at March MPD or Doncaster.

This website is Ukrailways1970tilltoday.me.uk  it is on railways, but it is not just on trains, but all things railways, with photos, which I have taken from the 1970s till now. I take photos of all things railways, steam diesel and electric trains, signal boxes, wagons any thing that is on the National Rail network, which was BR when I started taken photos.

Today East Coast,Great Northen and East Midland Traqins are just some of the names on the trains. These names keep changing, but that means I have to keep taking photos. I also take photos of preserved railways with steam diesel and electric trains. There is lots more to add and I keep taking More!
