Network Rail run railhead treatment trains throughout the autumn period. These special trains spray a high pressure jet of water and Sandite onto the railhead to clean leaf contamination from the top of the rail. The Sandite is a mixture of sand, antifreeze and steel
shot.

DB class 66135 next to the Depot. This 66 is one the repainted ones in smart DB red. This is contrast to very dirty 66s on the leaf full trains. Perhaps they are hoping it will not be needed but they needed a spare loco just in case.
The Depot that is near to the station nows see little use. The shed used to do light repairs and refueling and oiling here. The shed is now locked on a lot of days.
There was a time when rows of class 56s 47s and 37s and class 60s would fill these sidings. Trampers and the leaf fall trains plus the odd locomotive are all that use these siding now.
