Class 47 802 was at the rear of the train (Top and Tailed)
The class 47 is on the down line on the Stamford Leicester line which runs along side the ECML to the left of this photo till Helpston. This down line is also the down slow for the ECML. It is wired with overhead wires till the ECML down slow rejoins the ECML at Helpston. There are no wires on the up line as the ECML has its own up slow.
Werrington is just north of of Peterborough, but there is now lots of new houses and factories offices and warehouses here and it is now part of Peterborough. There is a junction off the ECML on the Great Northern Loop to Spalding and Sleaford and Lincoln and Doncaster at Werrington Junction. There were water troughs on the East Coast Main line (ECML) here.
There is to be a new dive under from the Spalding line of The Great Northern loop under the ECML to about were these trains are on the Stamford line.
The dive under is being built from about 2018, to save trains crossing the ECML and let them then be on the west side of Peterborough station to gain the March Ely line both ways with out holding up ECML trains.
Class 47 802 was at the rear of the train (top and Tailed) at Werrington from the same footbridge.this 47 would be in charge of the return trip.

The two class 37s are on the up line on the Leicester Stamford to Peterborough line which runs along side the ECML to the right of this photo from Helpston to Peterborough.

Class 67003 at Werrington on the Stamford line on 26th April 2008
This Tour had another class 67 0n the rear class 67017 (photo below)
The class 67 is on the down line on the Stamford Leicester line which is also used as the down slow for the ECML which runs along side on left of this photo till Helpston. The stamford line is wired with overhead wires only till the ECML down slow rejoins the ECML at Helpston.

This train was THE CHRISTMAS WHITE ROSE from Cambridge to York on Saturday the 12th of December in 2009 with LNER A4 Class 4-6-2 no 60007 Sir Nigel Gresley.
GNER HST on the ECML Werrington north of Peterborough
GNER HST on the up fast on the ECML at the site of now closed level crossing just to north of Werrington junction. The Stamford Leicester line runs along side the ECML here and is to the right. There were water troughts here at Werrington in steam days.
The Stamford line is only wired with overhead wires on its down line making this the ECMLs down slow as well, this is only to Helpston were the ECML down slow rejoins the ECML.
