Platform three in British Railways days was the main down platform and had buildings with waiting rooms and buffets ect. Platform 6 was at the rear and there were northern bays used by the M&GN.
When the station was altered and the fast lines put in around 1968 platform 6 and its buildings together with the northern bays that M&GNJR trains had used were removed.
There was just a small waiting room or is it a shelter on platform 3. Passengers must use the footbridge to get to and from platform 3. The platform is used by both up and down trains. All the Great Northern outer suburban trains that come to Peterborough terminate at Peterborough.
Platform 3 is now called platform 2.

I did think they could have put a bay platform in for these services when the station was added to in 2014. Perhaps one will may be added later?
