The Freight Loops at Peterborough station were
being moved and changed into one line in 2013
While work on the Two new platforms went on, a lot of freight used platforms 4 and 5. The lines that were to become platform 6 and 7 were kept in use for freight with work going on around. It was to be early 2014 after Christmas 2013 break that these new platforms came into use. There is now just one avoiding line but frieght uses all platforms at Peterborough station both ways
Freightliner class 66591 at Peterborough with work on platform 6 and 7 going on to build the new platforms.
Class 66741 light engine in what was to become platform 6 with the lift towers not yet in place. The platform is still being built on the 11th of June 2013. Greater Anglia class 170 205 is in platform 5
GBRf class 66732 into what will be come platform 6, but was still only a goods line on the 17th of June 2013 so its still in this page.
Class 66181 with a freight with the new platforms 6 and 7 well under way on the 22nd of November 2013.
Class 66420 with a down freight also with the new platforms 6 and 7 in front on the 22nd of November 2013.
These two goods loops or goods avoiding lines were signalled both ways and were used for crew changes and personal time breaks.
Trains could be here for a very short time or a long time, if waiting for a clear path between other trains or for a replacement driver.
