This unit was not in normal service. I think this unit may have been going to Doncaster?
These fast lines were put in when the station was altered around 1968 to get rid of the 20mph dogleg, that was in platform 2 at Peterborough station. Down trains though Peterborough also had no though fast line. Trains not stopping at Peterborough station can now do 105mph though Peterborough on both the up and down lines.
A very clean Hull trains class 180 50913 on 26th June 2010 on the up fast at Peterborough.
Both Hull trains and Grand Central are "open access" rail operators and now use these class 180 Adelantes.
Class 180 Adelante were built by Alistom in 2001 and 2002 at Washwood Heath in Birmingham. 14 train sets with 5 car per set were built for First Great Western. There were 287 seats per train. they have a top speed of 125mph.

Were the weeds are is now the all new platform 3. The new platform is on this up fast at Peterborough railway station.

Note that these Grand Central HSTs power cars have buffers. All the other HSTs do not.

The waiting room and bill boards and the weeds have been removed and replaced with the all new platform 3 that was opened in 2014.

The grass bank and fence on the left is now platform 3, under the new platform numbers at Peterborough from 2014 the old platform 3 is now platform 2.

The up fast line has now become Platform 3 from 2014 (but still the up fast as well) and the Down fast lineis still just the down fast.
