Flying Scotsman on Thursday the 25th February 2016 with "THE INAUGURAL RUN"
The Flying Scotsman on Thursday the 25th February 2016 with "THE INAUGURAL RUN" from Kings Cross to York in platform 4 at Peterborough.
The low winter sun was shining off the very new and very clean paintwork. Flying Scotsman was 30mins late, into Peterborough because of the numbers of people who were on the line-side all along the East Coast Main line.
Platform 3 and 4 at Peterborough was full of people all with camera’s and phones. TV camera’s were also on the platforms and above in the sky.
It was so nice to see this A3 back on the main line after it long and expensive restoration. The A3 is now in British Railways green with the number 60103 with the German type smoke deflectors, as were fitted after it got its double chimney towards the end of steam on the ECML.
See the list of UK Heritage Railway's on this site on righthand side of all pages >>>>

This is my home page for this website Ukrailways1970tilltoday.me.uk It is on railways in the UK. Not just on the trains, but all things to do with railways. The photos on this site are all taken by me unless named otherwise from the 1970s till today. I take photos of all things railways, steam diesel and electric trains, signal boxes, wagons. Any thing that is on the National Rail network, which was BR when I started taken photos.
All photos have been taken by me, unless named otherwise.
Today Virgin East Coast and Freightliner and East Midland Trains and DRS are just some of the names on the trains. This all means I have to keep taking more photos. I also take photos of preserved railways with steam diesel and electric trains. There is still lots more to add to this site asI keep taking even more photos and videos! There are over 600 pages so far on this site.
